Of course, what this new project might be is currently unknown. NetherRealm is now focusing on its next project and after more than two years of supporting Mortal Kombat 11, DLC for the game, including characters, has come to an end. Instead, the studio said it was shifting its attention to “its next project.” In a tweet posted on July 2, 2021, the studio announced that no more DLC would be coming to MK11. Thankfully, we do know that NetherRealm Studios is finally done with Mortal Kombat 11. As such, there’s no release date in sight - we don’t even know if Injustice 3 is in development. Boon stated, 'I wish we could talk but at the moment we have nothing to announce, but we appreciate the desire to see. In fact, NetherRealm hasn’t mentioned anything about starting work on a new game in the series. Ed Boon did comment on Injustice 3 during the panel, but did not reveal much.
